Je me suis surtout intéressé aux deux salles exposant les pièces de jade. (Cela vous étonne ?) Je vous donne à lire cette présentation des collections qui souligne le rôle déterminant de Qianlong (1711-1799), quatrième empereur de la dynastie mandchoue des Qing, dans le développement de cet artisanat.

“The use of jade ware in China can be traced to the Neolithic era eight thousand years ago it has continued until today.

“In 1736, the Qianlong Emperor ascended the throne. Seeing jade ware as an integral part of Chinese culture, he attached great importance to its collection and study. He participated in person in the designing of some jade articles and laid down strict rules on the use of jade ware, playing a crucial role in its development. Thanks to his support, court jade articles surpassed in number and variety all other dynasties in Chinese history, marking the zenith of Chinese ancient jade production.”
